We at CASA of Los Angeles feel very lucky… and thankful… every single day. The reason is simple. It’s our volunteers. Our CASAs. Our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do to guide and support unfortunate children caught up in the foster care system. They are our heroes and we cherish each and every one of them.
We need more heroes. We currently have about 400 trained volunteers for almost 26,000 foster children in Los Angeles County. One of our big goals is to recruit an additional 200 volunteers by June of 2012 to cover our turnover rate and increase our ranks by 100.
As we approach the holidays, we need your help. Yes, we need donations, in-kind gifts and volunteers. Please be as generous as you can. And please let us know if you, or anyone you know, is willing to volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and have one of the most rewarding experiences in their lives. Tell them: “As a CASA, you will truly make a huge difference in the life of a foster child. You will be a guide…a stabilizing influence…a catalyst of positive change. You may even be the one whose support prevents a vulnerable young person from succumbing to chronic unemployment, homelessness, addiction, incarceration and even suicide, as an adult. You may be the one pointing a child towards a better life.”
Heroes wanted. Please apply by contacting (323) 526-6666 so that you can join us in saying: “I Am For The Child.”
