This training is intended to support CASA in their early stages of engagement with children ages 10 and up. Many times, we find ourselves assuming a child’s behavior is a reflection of their character or their disinterest in adult support. Have you stopped to consider that perhaps you’re supporting a child whose emotional development is much younger than their chronological age and that there may be an opportunity for engagement with activities that they may have missed out on? This training will provide insight into how defiance is often rooted in trauma and how to separate the child from the behavior in order to work towards positive rapport building. CASAs will also walk away with tools for activities that support engagement through curiosity.
