Fatherhood Engagement

Working with biological parents and extended family members of the youth we serve is an important part of CASA advocacy. For this in-service training, Dr. Alan-Michael Graves from the Good Plus Foundation will guide us in a conversation around the importance of engaging with fathers and paternal relatives specifically. Attendees will learn about how engaging with fathers and paternal relatives can help to increase academic success and protective factors while reducing out-of-home placements and the loss of identity and connections that can so often happen in child welfare. Participants will develop strategies to engage with family members and demonstrate how this engagement can positively or negatively affect the success of the relationship with their youth and their healthy development.
