Concrete Food Resources for Young Children and Families

April 20 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Concrete Food Resources for Young Children and Families

Families in LA county with young children who are involved with the dependency system face many barriers and risks to family reunification or preservation. “Protective factors” are things that help them navigate barriers, mitigate risks, promote resiliency, and help children and families thrive. One of those protective factors is “Concrete Support in Times of Need.” During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, 1 in 3 LA County households experienced food insecurity. While that number has declined to 1 in 10 households, low-income families with children continue to be disproportionately affected.

Attend this training for an overview of concrete food resources in LA County – WIC, food banks, and non-profit and faith-based organizations specifically geared towards serving families with infants, young children, or those who are expecting. Participants will leave the training with knowledge of eligibility for services, where and how to find food resources, and who to connect parents of young children to who are food insecure to improve their long-term health and developmental outcomes.
