Join the CASA/LA team for this presentation from attorneys with Public Counsel’s Transition Age Youth Team. This team helps youth who have experienced foster care and are currently ages 16 to 26 with their civil legal matters. These youth often experience housing and family law issues and have questions about their benefits. This training will provide an overview of the extensive legal services that Public Counsel offers and teach you to spot the issues to send to them. We will discuss how you can access these services and provide specific examples of the kinds of help provided in cases such as evictions, clearing up traffic tickets, and CalFresh denials. Additionally, youth who are expectant or parenting often have questions about the impact of naming someone on the birth certificate or having someone else temporarily care for their child, among other custody and visitation issues. These decisions can have far-ranging impacts and Public Counsel can guide your youth to make the best decisions for themselves and their children.
