Join us for an overview of the incredible work of the Office of Equity (OOE) LGBTQ+ Program within the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). We will begin by reviewing the disproportionality of LGBTQ+ youth in the dependency system. This will include a discussion of the factors that lead to disproportionality as well as how these factors often negatively impact our youth. We will then discuss how the OOE program fosters authentic engagement through affirming practices and delivers vital support tailored to the intersecting needs of LGBTQ+ youth. Finally, we will review how you can follow best practices to ensure that you are a safe and affirming support to your youth in addition to how you can access the resources available to them.
