Join us for the next in-service as we host the Los Angeles County Office of Education to discuss the impact of the immigration system on our youth and families.
This presentation examines key issues impacting many of the youth and families we serve, including school safety, family preparedness in case of separation, housing stability, access to health coverage, and protections for foster and undocumented youth. You will gain an overview of recent and proposed changes, such as updates to Medi-Cal, public charge considerations, and federal housing policies that may impact mixed-status families, along with insight into what remains uncertain in the current landscape. We will also introduce important legal protections, including Plyler v. Doe and key California laws (AB 699, AB 49, SB 98, and AB 495), to help you better understand the rights and resources available to youth and families. As families navigate increasing uncertainty, staying informed enables you to provide meaningful support and connect them with trusted providers who can offer accurate information and appropriate services.
