November 16 @ 7:15 pm

This training is the second in a two-part series on racial justice in education. This session will build upon the concepts reviewed in part one. We will use data to demonstrate significant over-representation of children of color and those with disabilities, in the child welfare, youth justice, special education, and school discipline systems. Additionally, this training will explore alternative education settings for all these groups of children and understand how those alternative schools can impact children’s education opportunities. Finally, we will dig into specific issues of intersectionality, such as the Adultificaiton of Black girls. A historical perspective will allow us to draw parallels between past and current trends. This training will include specific examples in the form of client stories and other youth perspectives on these issues.
