This workshop will provide an overview of working with vulnerable youth populations affected by “community gang violence.” Taking a Holistic Ecological perspective in working with vulnerable youth populations identified as gang involved, gang affiliated, theories will be examined to best understand the culture youth gangs. The historical context of street socializing youth residing in urban cities such as Los Angeles will be explored. Current interventions and policies designed to address youth gang activity will be reviewed.
