Did you know that 1 in 6 children live with a developmental disability?
For this in-service we will learn about a major resource for youth and adults living with a developmental disability in Los Angeles county called Regional Centers. Attendees will learn about Regional Centers and the work they provide in case management, advocacy assistance, information, referrals, and specialized services.

Brian Capra, Senior Staff Attorney at Public Counsel
Brian Capra is a Senior Staff Attorney at Public Counsel. Since March 2007, Brian has directed a unique program at Public Counsel providing targeted advocacy to children and youth with developmental disabilities under court jurisdiction in the foster care, juvenile justice, and probate court systems. The program that Brian developed and oversees ensures that court-involved children with developmental disabilities get the services and supports to which they are entitled under the law. Brian advances social justice for this population through legislation, state and local policy development, impact litigation and direct services.
Prior to joining Public Counsel, Brian worked for over six years with Disability Rights California as a Client Rights Advocate. Brian earned his law degree from UCLA School of Law in 2000.
